The Converse One Star evolved from the iconic All Star to meet the demands for higher quality basketball footwear, but it hasn't quite caught on in the sport. They gained new popularity in the 1990s, when they were often seen on the cover of Thrasher magazine as the favorite shoe for skateboarders. But most notably, they became part of the culture through their association with grunge music and Nirvana. In 1994, they became memorable thanks to Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's frontman, who was the last person to wear them.
